We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Senior Accountant to join a reputable and fast-growing pharmaceutical company in Accra, Ghana. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of accounting duties, including overseeing financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This role requires strong leadership, advanced Excel capabilities, financial modelling skills, and a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical or pharma retail sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy and compliance with local regulations and international standards (IFRS).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage a team of three junior accounting staff.
  • Develop and maintain advanced financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and trial balances.
  • Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and tax authorities.
  • Ensure timely submission of tax returns, statutory payments, and compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, operations, and management to support business objectives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (essential).
  • MBA or Master’s degree in a related field will be a strong advantage.
  • Minimum 6–8 years’ experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior role within a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising accounting teams.
  • Proven ability to perform financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Highly proficient in Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, Power Query, complex formulas).
